Welcome to another edition of Transformation Thursday! It's the one day each week that we all get together to celebrate getting stuff done. No matter if your project is big or small, we want to see it! Just link up at the bottom of this post.
First things first -
I am not ending Transformation Thursday.
The discussion from yesterday about blog parties was just that - a discussion. TT is not changing in any way, either. I love hosting this fun party each week so we can all get together. I don't want to change it, because I'm happy just how it is. But, if you haven't already, I do invite you to join the discussion - it's quite interesting to see what everyone has to say.
And now.... on with the show! I have no idea how window collecting began at my house - but it seems that every stray window in town finds it's way to my house. I do have a soft spot for those beautiful old panes! We've made so many things out of windows, and there is more to come, but I thought I'd share this quick project with ya. I don't have pics of the process, but Mr. SCC made a couple of brackets and attached them through the back of the window, then added a shelf on top. If you need more instructions email me and I will forward you to him. He's the builder, I'm the architect. I say.... "Hmmmm.... I'd really like a side bar" and a few hours later (and maybe a little grumbling), miraculously a sidebar just appears in my dining room.
Funny, huh?
Ok, so I told him I wanted the shelf, he built it. I happened to have some paint that almost identically matched the existing paint on the window (Restore, anyone?). Madeline and I painted the shelf part (and touched up drips on the window part), then we were done. I hung it in my bathroom, but it may get a couple of hooks or something on the bottom... who knows? I love the rustic feeling it adds!
Soooooo..... whatcha got? We wanna see! Make sure to put your PERMALINK into the Linky and link here so everyone can see the great ideas! I do ask that you visit the person above and below you so everyone has fun! (Welll... we did have one little change, huh?) Ready? Set? Let'er rip, tater chip!

I love your party. Thanks for hosting every week. That window looks amazing. It would go perfect with my new shutters. haha!
I love the window shelf, perfect for a bathroom. I think hooks would be so great too. Old windows are a favorite of mine too.

Thanks for hosting. I was wondering if bloggers that have linky partys mind if the button for the party is on the sidebar of my blog or would you prefer it directly on the post?
That's a great idea adding the shelf to the window. I love old windows too but I don't have one that is that cute! Thanks for hosting!
How cool! I would have never thought to put a window on the wall. I know what I'm looking for at the next sale ;-)
Thanks for hosting and I'm glad you aren't changing things!

I love the shelf made out of the window. My daughter's roommate painted the glass part of an old window for their apartment and it turned out real cute. It looks like a branch with 2 birds sitting on it. Really sweet! Love & blessings from NC!
Hi Gina,
The window/shelf is fantastic, how clever and it looks great. I think hooks on the bottom would make it perfect. I wish my Mr. would make things "magically appear" around here, but I guess my list is too darn long!!!
Now I'd like to add my comment to the long list from yesterday's discussion...
First, thank you very much for hosting this party every Thursday. I don't join every week, but when I do I consider myself fortunate to be able to participate. I spend a lot of time visiting other participants, and am always inspired by the amazing talent out there!
Second, I host my own party on Wed. - so far it's very small because it's kind of different - I like to think of it as "exclusive" -however, everyone with a relevant post is welcome, and I'd love to see the party grow. That said, I do think it's common courtesy to link back to the hostess, and to link a post that applies to the theme of the day. I've had the experience of visiting links and trying to figure out if I'm in the right place, and why those particular posts were linked in the first place! I know it's hard to build up traffic to a site since there are so many millions of sites out there, and joining a party does get everyone more exposure,(which is a good thing), but that shouldn't be the only reason people link to it. There should be relevant content, for sure!! And a fairly recent post is good, too, not one 3 months old!
Also, and this is slightly off subject but what the heck while we're talking I'll add this: while I realize there is money to be made out there in blog-land. I don't like to visit sites that are so obviously trying to make a buck that their content is mediocre and the site is jammed up with ads and junk. Then, those same sites are linked to every and any other blog party - whether or not it makes sense. To me that doesn't really reflect what blogging is about - for sure it's not why I do it! Turning a site into a profitable one can be done tastefully and in a more low-key manner, as a reader and visitor I appreciate that! Don't misunderstand me, I do not think every site with ads is offensive in that way, and I think it's great when a site brings in some money for the writer - as long as it's not the only thing on the site!.
I think if we all behaved the way we would if we were meeting in person at someone's home the "rules" or guidelines would be pretty obvious. You wouldn't barge into a formal party wearing a costume, handing out flyers advertising a sale down the street, and then leave without acknowledging the hostess and saying thank you so you could head to the next party, and then the next one. At least I don't know many people who would do that!!
So there you have my four minute lecture and my deep thoughts on party etiquette. For what it's worth, thanks for asking!!
Have a great weekend!

I apologize! I tried to link up awhile ago...very new to this and I had no idea about the etiquette involved. I don't even know how to add someone's link, and left it out. This is all a little intimidating to the beginner ;)
Your hubby is so sweet to grant your wishes! The window looks great with the shelf on it.
I, too, have an old window addiction, so this shelf/window is sooo up my alley!! I just bought an antique leaded glass window ~ will try to post about it later this week, so please stop by!

Wowzer! I love the window with the shelf. That has to be my favorite thing I have ever seen done to a window. Whoot Whoot! Thanks for hosting every week and for giving us all a chance to comment yesterday about parties! Yours is always one of my faves!
Love that shelf Gina!!
Your window shelf is great - gotta love a handyman!!
Another great party!
Another great project that you made--I also love windows and now I have an idea from yours!
Thank you!
Do you know that I look forward to this party every week?
Sick, I know.
:)
Blessings to you!

The window transformation is wonderful.
Your window with its shelf is so sweet. I'd be totally into windows if I had more wall space, but with family photos and my paintings, a gal's gotta have her priorities, lol! I look forward to your party every week and try to post something unique and interesting, so thanx for hosting. I also try to visit most if not all the sites and leave a nice comment, specific to their post. Love the new thumbnails, it's like a blog catalog.
I love to trash pick, but my husband draws the line at bringing home old windows. Maybe because he knows I'd ask him to make something really neat like that shelf!
I do love old windows -- which is a good thing because that's what we have almost exclusively here at the old house -- wavy glass and all.
I didn't see the discussion about linky parties, but not to link back to the hostess and not to tailor content to meet the guidelines -- that's just rude. For beginners, OK a little slack, but I'd prefer they take the time to figure it all out before linking -- it's just common courtesy, which maybe isn't so common anymore.
thanks for hosting!
Cass
