dirty secrets

In our "only show the best parts" bloggy world, we are prone to hiding the dirty secrets  spots of our homes. With blogging, writing, kid keeping, and shop keeping, sometimes I slack on the house keeping. Well... ok... probably too many times. So then my counters look like this.

But, when I take make the time to make the housekeeping come before the blogging and writing and even shop keeping, then things become right as rain. Funny how that works.

So.... yeah.... I'm just keepin' it real.

It is so ironic that you posted this because I have been pondering my dirty little secrets lately... Wondering what everyone might think if I posted "my house at the end of a busy week." I've even contemplated coming up with "Dirty Little Secrets Friday," or something like that. Thanks for keeping it real.

Yes, we *all* have those moments. And I don't have the excuse of blogging, shop keeping, etc. I enjoy your blog so much. Thanks!

Yes, I'm guilty too. My house could use some TLC but I'm usually having too much fun in blogland.
I better get started on some spring cleaning, but acutally, I'd rather read about it.

Great post.

Boy, do I know what you are saying. Sometimes things get out of control. We just have to take a breath and trudge forward.
Good Luck.

A sweet hello to you Miss Shabby Chic Cottage! I can't believe you posted this blog - you read my mind as I am thinking of doing the same sort of post, only I was going to take a picture of (are you ready???) the inside of my GARAGE! My husband has piled everything in the back so I can park my precious little BMW inside during the winter. It's quite a sight! Ciao, Bella!

Ok girl, you can't pull the wool over my eyes that easy. I know you only cleaned that counter off so you could put all the things you brought home from Hobby Lobby on it today! Am I right? lol

thanks for sharing...cuz now the rest of us can feel a little less loser-ish and little more normal!

isnt it sad how hard we can be on ourselves for not having everything shiny clean and perfect all the time!

OM Gosh! This is too funny! We were just cleaning our dining room table because it is our clutter catcher.

You can't even see my kitchen counters or table most days !

it's always nice to know that i'm not the only one whose house gets messy. last week was pretty bad as i was sick and hubby was going to school and working everyday. (it's amazing how people who aren't even home much can still make messes huh?) thanks for being real!

We are all in the same boat. You should see the basement that I am in the process of cleaning out. I'm surprised the city has not condemned it! Slowly, but surely, it is getting cleaned out and straightened. Love & blessings from NC!

i try do to my daily chores early in the morning so that they get done and I can get on with the day. it works most of the time. and it helps that I only have me and hubby to clean after - i'm sure once we have kids things will get 100x harder!

Bwa ha ha... you want to keep it real? GO CHECK OUT THE FREAKIN MESS at my house! I just posted it on my blog. ha ha... I've had my entire house flipped upside down since last Friday since we started having it painted. OMG what a nightmare! But today it was finished. I posted photos of the chaos that has been my life this week. Ha ha... that should make you feel BETTER than normal! :)

I was wondering about this too! On top of messy places, I have a den that is as ugly as a big toe that I won't dare show until I have an after picture. I'm glad I'm not the only one with secrets.

I know just what you mean... I have been neglecting blogland this week just to catch up on housework/laundry and groceries. I almost feel guilty for missing new posts, but I had to take a break to catch up on 'real life'!

So true! You should see my pile of clean laundry (at least it's clean!) waiting for my attention. Thanks for sharing the "ugly" truth.

Hey, if you get a sec go see my before and after of my cottage kitchen. Wow was it a lot of work, but SO worth it!

I am lovin your post. I have often wanted to post "that" picture and wouldn't be disturbed one bit in doing so. But, the flip side to that is, that since I have been living in my creative house/studio, doing the creative things that make my heart soar. I am teaching my children a lesson in being present, being yourself, living for your passion, I could go on.. I have a five yr. old that draws amazing pictures, a teen that is pursuing a dream, and another teen learning about who he is and what would be the dream he could accomplish. They pick up on things and the atmosphere change around here so well. We should all allow a creative mess once in a while. Especially when we are accomplishing things that go beyond the order and structure of the world and that matter so much.
Thanks for keeping it real!
I love those moments.;)

What works for me: Pretend guests are coming to stay for the weekend and I clean like a madwoman! I'm always surprised at how I can hide things where even nosey guests won't find them. Only one problem with this idea....I usually forget where I put some of my things and then it's months before I find them again. So, it's not a perfect plan....

I have to say the castle is spotless, not a thing out of place, but then it is on show and you never know who might turn up to look round. The cottage is my retreat from the world, that is very different !! my computer desk is littered with so many sticky notes,I cant find the one I want and my writing desk is full of junk that I do not throw away in case I need it.The sitting room has magazines strewn around,I could go on and on,so reading the comments to your post has made me feel better about it,as I am not the only on like this.

Grace @ Ruby Moon Designs said...

Thanks for keeping it real. I actually find it very hard to be creative when my home is a mess...cleanliness definitely inspires creativity in my world! However, with creativity usually comes the mess, so it's a constant struggle of keeping things organized and creating. It's a good struggle though!

Blessings, Grace
