You'll need 4 yards of red tulle and 4 yards of white tulle (or whatever colors you'd like). Leave it folded in half, like it comes off the bolt. (It's 97 cents a yard at Walmart - so it's less than $8 for the whole shebang!)
I used the lines of my island as a cutting guide and cut 6 inch wide strips, making 36 strips of each color. Let the kiddos help you hold it down, it makes it much easier to cut. You'll also need 1 yard of ribbon, I used what I had.
After you cut the strips, loop them onto the ribbon and pull them tight. (I used different ribbon to show the method more clearly.)
Alternating the colors, loop on all the tulle strips, then push them all to the middle of the ribbon. Use the ends of the ribbon to tie the skirt onto the trunk of your tree.
I think it's tu-tu cute! If you need a little more coverage, use a piece of plain white cloth to hide the feet of your tree. Just fluff and stand back and enjoy the girliness. And, yes, it's so easy that even kiddos can do it. It only gets fluffier and prettier once you add in the presents.
Tomorrow we're back to ornaments, hope you're not bored with Christmas decorating yet, 'cause there's a lot more to come! See ya tomorrow, chickies!
