Christmas Cheats: Fleece Wreath (and Angie's first post!)

I am just too excited to be making my first post ever on SCC!
I hope you all enjoy it too!
I just love this little fleece wreath I made for my door knob this year.

Inspiration hit me when I saw something similar in the pages of a magazine. However, I did not want to actually BUY anything to make mine...so to the scrap bin I went. For this one you are going to need some pieces of fleece in various colors, a length of florist's wire, and some ribbon. The fleece can be any you have lying around. Got an old fleece scarf? A fleece blanket you hate? Small scraps from a former project? Dig em all up and let's repurpose them!

Cut up your fleece into 1 inch squares. I found my trusty roller cutter and mat made quick work of this step. I filled small bowls with tons of various colored squares.

I found this next part easiest when sitting on the couch watch Desperate Housewives but you just pick your fave show! A 15 inch length of florist wire will get you a 5 inch diameter wreath (similar to mine). I have however made them smaller for hanging on the tree. Pick the diameter wreath you are looking for a mutiply that by three to get the length of florist wire you need. And really all you have to do is push those little squares onto the wire. Just use the wire to pierce through the center of the square! And don't get fussy on where the center is -- trust me -- no one will be able to tell! Plus it does not matter what direction you turn them either -- I love something I can't mess up!

Just keep on pushing on those little squares. We want this wreath FULL! Leave an inch or so on either end. I just randomly put on my colors but if you love a pattern of colors better -- go for it! And when Desperate Housewives is over or you have had enough of those little squares, tie that wreath up! Just push the squares on both sides together nice and tight and twist the two ends of that wire together. Cut off any excess wire.

Shape the wire into a circle (cause with all that pushing and twisting it probably is a little flat by now). Use a length of ribbon as a hanger. And pretty up your door knob, tree, or anything else your heart desires!

Best part is -- I had everything I needed to make this one and some others! My kind of Christmas craft!

Oh sweetie...
Thanks so much for taking the time to share with me tonight. I think this is a great project. I think my grand daughters and even my grandsons would enjoy making one of these. I could have all of the supplies ready to go, all they would have to do is string them on until they are full. Thanks again for a wonderful craft for the kiddos too.

Stop by and say hi. I would love to have you visit. Country hugs...Sherry
