throwing down the gauntlet

Do you suffer from Decorating ADD? Well I have a challenge for you! I am going to attempt to complete ten projects in the next ten days. I am simply HORRIBLE at starting things and just not finishing them. So, this monster of a challenge is on the line. Hopefully having some accountability will keep me from starting anything new.

The list in my side bar are projects that I have already started and haven't completed. They can be something small, like hanging a picture, or something large like finally finish painting a piece of furniture. I plan on doing them using what I already have on hand, but it's not a requirement. How great would it feel to have that many things marked off your list in a week and a half?

Wanna join me? Leave a comment and then post your list on your blog. Please let others know so they can get in on the fun, too. I will post my list very soon, then get to work. On October 15th we will have a party to celebrate getting it all accomplished (or your hard efforts if you don't get finished). I'm sure we will find a giveaway as a wonderful prize.

Who's with me?

Sounds like a plan! Unlike you, I am an expert at starting things and not finishing. I still haven't finished painting my office (which I started 3 years ago!).

Here's my list:
1. Makeover the little stool I bought yesterday at a yard sale.
2. Reorganize my stash of decorating items, so they're easier to "shop".
3. At least pick a paint color for my bedroom. My plan is to have it painted by Thanksgiving, but I don't think I can have it done in ten days! If I do, that'll be a bonus.

This doesn't look like a very daunting list, so I should be able to get it done. The big task will be finishing our taxes--our extension is up on Oct 15! Thanks for the kick in the rear!

I too have been putting off some projects that need to either be finished or started, so I'm in. Maybe this will give me the push to get it done! Thanks for hosting!..............

ooo, I'm so in! Making the list is going to be item #1 on it.

Also, I commented on the Purdy brushes post of yours and was contacted by the manufacturer and they sent me a roller and a brush!! I was so excited. So thank you for that :)

I would love to join you. I can definitely think of 100, er 10 projects to finish. ;)
Count me in.

Gina,
This is a little scary...should I or shouldn't I! I have a lot of BIG projects which would be complicated to do in ten days. Then again, if I don't join, does that make me pathetic? LOL!
I'll take a look and see what I come up with. I hate to be left out. :)

Oh WOW!!! What a GREAT idea. This is just what we all need. Well, maybe not all of you, but me, for sure!

I'll post my list after doing my "brain drain" later and link back here to get lots more gals in on it.

I'll take that bet and you're gonna regret 'cuz I'm the best that's ever been.....not really, I just wanted to say that...

OK - this might require therapy, but it coincides with my impending 42nd birthday, and I have been in denial about many projects that beg finishing. Oh, Gina, you make me feel so brave.

I'm in! Now for the list... :)

Count me in! I am the worst at starting too many projects at one time. I tell myself that I need to be doing something while paint is drying... so I pick up something else. I will post my list on my blog tomorrow.
I needed a kick in the pants!

HELP, how do you do strikethrough in a post? I would like to be able to cross things off the list as I complete them. Can you do it in blogger or only in livewriter or something else? Hope someone can help. Thanks :)

Elizabeth (blue clear sky) said...

Sounds like a great idea to get some projects finished. I'm back to work though so my projects may be on the smaller side with helping 2 kiddos with homework each night. Thank heaven for weekends. Thanks for the inspiration. I will post my list soon I hope.

I have been mulling over this all day because it means a committment....but here I am. I'm in.

My entire list will be posted tomorrow, but the first couple of things on my mind are:

1. Finish fall wreath for front door.

2. Gather up all the items to donate I have been collecting all over the house in different spots and put into the back of the car. Boy, that will feel good.

So...are you in cahoots with the Purdy people? Got my paint kits (yes, 2!!) this morning. With your inspiration and these new tools, I have no excuse not to get my bedroom finished! I'll be hosting a giveaway soon with the second kit.

Okay, I'm in. You're just the motivation I needed so I better get busy. I posted the list on my site http://organizeyourstuffnow.com/wordpress/?p=2210 with the first one I completed. Thanks for the push.

Rose fr http://www.FineCraftGuild.com .
Will decide tomorrow what projects I will complete and post the list on my site.

There are only oh about 50 or so laying around.... I am sure to be able to finish 8 in 8 days if not 10 in 8 days...

GREAT IDEA!

Good gracious! I wish I would of seen this sooner. This would of been soooo much fun! I have a billion little and big projects running through my head daily. It would be good to get through some of them.

dawgyah said...

Darn..I missed out. I always have projects going but I keep a list and when I am on a time schedule I set daily goals. It works really well if you keep each day reasonable. Today I needed to cut new chair backs and paint and install them, remove everything from my bedroom and get ready to paint the ceiling. I got all that done and 1/4 of the ceiling painted. When I get my list done I quit for the day so I don't wear myself out. It really works well.

I am IN! This is one of the best ideas (and most needed, in my case) I've heard of in a long time. Call I'm already a procrastinator, but that was made worse when I got Home Depot gift cards for my birthday. The gift cards are almost gone, and I have an entire closet filled with bags of stuff for projects yet to be finished, most of which I haven't even started! Sorry, my blog is private, but I wanted to comment, anyway. Thanks for the idea!!
