Welcome once again to Transformation Thursday! It's the one day a week we come together to celebrate getting things done. If you're looking for a new Thursday party since Kimba is moving DIY Day to Tuesdays, I hope you'll join us each week!
Over the last week we have all worked hard around my house to transform the master bathroom. It used to be completely pink with black trim, which looked better in my head than it did in reality. So, I decided to keep it plain and simple by painting everything out white and keeping my pink towels and rug, because they were in good shape and I loved them.
I did replace all the trim, including using Lindsay's "Pottery Barn Inspired" treatment on the mirror (which was attached straight to the wall). Those muslin curtains lend a little grace to the lone window.
The shower curtain is made just like a quilt top, a combination of an old curtain, tablecloth and vintage sheet. I took a deep breath, ripped them into pieces and stitched them back together with my trusty sewing machine.
My sweetie made a quirky little nook in the corner into a built in unit. I just filled it with baskets & essentials and it looks just as great as it is functional.
Adding some scraps of bead board half way up the wall amped up the cottage charm. Since it was left overs from other projects, it cost nothing out of pocket.
Painting an abstract set of chrysanthemums was an easy way to add art to the only wall with available space. They hold special meaning, since my bridal bouquet was a bunch of pink ones.
A couple of new knobs from Ikea made a big change for pennies. I used two out of a six pack, bought for only $1.99.
And, last but certainly not least, was a corner enhanced by a sweet little lantern from Ikea.
This was a big change for a small room on a small budget. We have about $50 invested in a cosmetic overhaul, but it makes my heart sing!

I did a pathwork shower curtain in my bathroom as well! It is the best way to use fabric remnants. In my case, I use 3 fabric remnants and a chenille bedspread. You can check it out at http://missmustardseed.blogspot.com/2009/09/my-1940s-bathrooms.html
