House painting & lucky finds

WHEW! It's been a long holiday weekend of painting our house around here. We're about 90% complete, with the help of my BFF, Candi. She's the kinda friend that is there through thick & thin, and today was the thick part. Lots and lots of painting later, Mr. SCC came home from work and grilled us some burgers for a very nice treat. It was lovely to be released from cooking duty after painting for over 10 hours. Yep, it was a long day.

However, before the long weekend of painting began, we took a little shopping trip on Friday night. Along the way I spotted a yard sale and we pulled over to find this great 25 cent finds.

The jar at the top was a thrift store find, a lovely glass canister that once held peppermints in a store. I saw it last week, but didn't grab it at the time. I went back on Friday for my lunch run through and it was still there, so it came home with me. Now what to fill it with....?
How was your weekend? Hope you're enjoying the holiday!

Hey Gina,
Great finds. You can fill the glass canister up with almost anything. I would probably fill it up with some kind of sugary treat, yum! And as far as my weekend is concerned, well it's been quite an eventful one, and it all revolves around my pets. Well maybe these three words will sum it up...bee sting and skunk!:-0 They're ok, but I hear the smell will stay for awhile. Hope you're Labor Day is a relaxing one.

Hugs,
♥Ana
They're o.k. now.

I love the candy jar. I have one too and it is very old. My mom gave it to me years ago. I keep treats in it for my son. I have used it for about 15 years now. I bet your home is going to be so beautiful after you finish painting! Can't wait to see it.

Don't you just love those glass jars?...so versitile. A very sweet idea is to use teacups for the scoops and put sugar or what have you inside. You could use enamel cups if your into the primitive look.

Two fabulous finds. Love the candy jar- I'd use in the bathroom to house pretty soaps or loads of cotton balls!

What a great jar! I recently found a vintage lidded jar: I use it to store my 1-inch quilting squares as I cut them up. I love the way the fabric colors show through. We'll be painted the inside of our house, too, but we're hiring someone...or else it'd never get done! Love to read your blog and thanks for sharing!

I'm already starting to crave those little halloween creme pumpkins. The kind that look like candy corn only their meatier than candy corn. Meatier? Uh, well yeah, I guess thats what I meant.

I love little jars like that. Are you painting inside or outside of the house?

Those things can be used for anything!
1. Cookie Jar
2. Change Jar
3. Throw some rocks and a candle in it
4. Decoupage your pet's name on it and store treats.
